This pastel painting won the purchase award at Bosque Art Competition, Texas.

I am attracted to extreme light and dark contrast.  This was a perfect example of that.

It seems that there are not enough hours in the day when you are having fun.  So many ideas and not enough time to do them but I'm thankful for what I am able to do.

Pardon the pun.  It just seemed like the right thing to do. 

This was a fun painting.  I enjoyed the freedom of painting loosely and placing colors that weren't really there...except in my mind.

My favorite place...my outdoor studio this morning.  Though it was only in the 50's I had to go out to spend a little time.  It has a skylight and the lighting is good.  I've painted many hours in this little metal building.

I'm back in my outdoor studio today...I love it!  Reworking a pastel painting.

I enjoy doing landscape paintings in between portraits.  I'm given some freedom in that

I don't have to focus on a likeness but can use lots of artistic license.

If you guessed that this is a glass of iced tea then you were correct! I call it "Looking Through the Glass".  I loved the way the light shone on the tea through the sculpted glass showing the color in the background. 

It is a 12"x 24" oil painting on board. 
It will be going to Sparrows Gallery, 124 West Main St., Denison, Tx.

Today is going to be a full painting day.  I had to move my things into the house because it is too chilly to work in my outdoor studio (my favorite place). 

This is an 11 x 14 oil painting of a young father and his newborn daughter.

This commissioned painting was recently completed.

This work in progress appears to be an abstract painting but in actuality is a realistic painting of something we all see everyday.

As a part of my daily blog I want to show some of the portraits that I have completed recently.
This is a portrait of a soldier that served a significant amount of time in Afghanistan.

This is the completed painting, "Bread of Life".  Now it is ready for framing then off to the gallery.

Back to the drawing board....
After a time of rest...sabbatical...I am enjoying my outdoor studio again. I've started a new
series called "My Neighborhood".  It will include scenes/items that I am privileged to see everyday
at or near my home in North Texas.

This piece is a  12"x14" pastel work in progress of the view of my backyard.  I will call it "Bread of Life" because that is what it means to me.
